Sipeed Introduces Open-Source NanoKVM-PCIe Expansion Card with Preorders Now Available
Sipeed has launched preorders for its new open-source NanoKVM-PCIe expansion card, designed to enhance PC management, especially in server environments. Powered by RISC-V architecture, this card supports full 1080p streaming over the internet and offers multiple connectivity options.
Several models are available, starting with the NanoKVM-PCIe Eth at $40, followed by models with additional features like Wi-Fi and PoE, up to $55. Each model supports multiple power sources, including PCIe slot, USB, 9-Pin, and PoE, with Wake over LAN functionality even when the PC is powered off.
The card streams video at 1080p and 60 FPS, with a delay of around 160 milliseconds, making it unsuitable for gaming but ideal for server management. Models with Wi-Fi support Wi-Fi 6, while Ethernet remains a solid option for enterprise use.
A small OLED display on the card provides real-time status updates on streaming resolution and FPS, adding a helpful yet optional feature for server management needs.
