AMD Boosts Ryzen 9600X and 9700X with Warranty-Supported 105W Mode and Reduces Latency Across 9000-Series
AMD has rolled out a new firmware update to enhance the performance of its Ryzen 9000-series processors, addressing previous criticisms surrounding their launch. The update includes a new 105-watt TDP power profile for the Ryzen 9600X and 9700X, allowing users to unlock higher performance without voiding the warranty. This feature, previously accessible through workarounds, is now officially supported via BIOS updates for X870 motherboards and Ryzen 600 chipsets.
Additionally, AMD has tackled an issue with core-to-core latency, which was more pronounced in the 9000-series compared to the 7000-series. The new 1.2.0.2 BIOS reduces the number of transactions between cores, leading to significant latency improvements in multi-CCD models, which should enhance performance in CPU-heavy games and benchmarks.
For those adopting the latest AM5 motherboards, AMD’s X870 and X870E boards now also support DDR5-8000 RAM with the EXPO profile, allowing for high-speed overclocking similar to Intel’s XMP.
These updates underscore AMD’s commitment to optimizing the performance of its latest processor lineup, making the Ryzen 9000-series a more appealing option for gamers and power users alike. Be sure to update your BIOS to take advantage of these improvements.
